What are the differences between hybrid and volume lashes?

As lash artists, our training allows us to offer a variety of different looks and styles to our clients.Hybrid lashes set is a mix of classic and volume lashes. The thickness of the hybrid sets will have mixed diameters from 0.05 mm to 0.10 mm for the volume fans (multiple lashes applied on one lash), and from 0.10 mm to 0.20 mm for the classic lashes.

The thickness of the volume sets will depend on the size of the fans. The bigger the fans will be (the more lashes a fan will have), the thinner the lashes will be. The diameters can be between 0.05 mm to 0.10 mm.

The thickness will depend on the natural lashes. The stronger the natural lashes are, the thicker lash extension can be used for classic lash in hybrid sets. 

Who should get volume vs. hybrid lashes?

Clients who want a fuller look than classic lashes, but less voluminous than a volume set should go for the hybrid sets. It is best for people who still want a natural look, but a bit more. It will give them a natural look, but fuller. Clients who aren’t satisfied with the natural look of the classic lashes might be satisfied with the hybrid look.

Clients who enjoy dramatic looks and lashes should go for volume sets. Volume sets will give their eyes a nice eyeliner look, rather than mascara look like the classic would do.

When it comes to length, both techniques can use the same lengths, as long as it is properly chosen in order to accomplish healthy lash extensions sets.

When it comes to curls, the most popular curls for hybrid sets are C, CC, and D curls. Volume sets also use the curls: C, CC and D, but can achieve different effects with more curls, such as L curl for a cat eye effect, or M curl for a fox eye effect.

There is not really a difference when it comes to retention if pre and post treatment are carefully done by the lash artist. All infills should be done within 2 to 3 weeks after the full set being done, depending on everyone's lashes and maintenance.

Each type of set will offer its own uniqueness depending on the dimension, curl and lengths used so it is important to always inform your clients of the possibility of what their set will look like. Some people have an idea of what the set will look like so it’s important to always advise them beforehand that everyone’s lashes are different and the outcome may not turn out the way they wanted.
